Grimace Shake

Main Ingredients

My son wanted a Grimace Shake. Problem with that is, McDonalds discontinued this item. He asked me to make one at home. Never had an interest in it, never attempted making it. Maybe someone had a good recipe? Everyday shortcuts to the rescue. I found their copycat recipe worthwhile as-is, but here I shake it up a bit.

This is essentially a fruit smoothie made with ice cream, and topped with whipped cream. I don’t weigh the ingredients, so this version is highly subjective.

* Put three scoops of vanilla ice cream into your blender.

* Add 1 or 2 Cups of whole milk.

* Add a handful (about 1/2 Cup) of frozen raspberries.

* Add a handful (about 1/2 Cup) of frozen blueberries.

* Add a handful (about 1/2 Cup) of frozen diced purple sweet potato.

Blend it up until homogeneous. Don’t add any food coloring or artificial flavors.

For the topping, prepare some vanilla whipped cream with an electric mixer.

* Pour a cup of heavy whipping cream into your mixer bowl.

* Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

* Add 2 or 3 Tablespoons of granulated sugar.

Whip it up for about 2 minutes, or until desired texture is obtained.

You can get frozen berries at almost any large grocery store. The only odd ingredient here, that McDonald’s probably never used, is Coconut King frozen diced purple sweet potatoes. I’ve also steamed raw sweet potatoes to use in desserts.

Bon appetit!
