Sifting Out Folic Acid

So, we’re looking at some bread and pasta items here that are free of folic acid. I don’t want folic acid in my food, so I’ve been going through the pantry, and going through the labels on the products that I like to buy.

What I found is, a lot of the name-brand breads have folic acid. Anything fortified, enriched, bleached, is likely to have folic acid.

Anything packaged, baked goods… that are packed in a box are likely to have folic acid. However, I found that organic sourdough and some of the local um, stores’ bake shops have really good bread with, which is not… with no folic acid in it. So, these bagels are pretty… we love bagels. These bagels are… are fresh baked at the store. And they don’t have folic acid. This sourdough artisan bread does not have folic acid. Um, most cornbread mixes did not have folic acid. Whole grain pastas usually don’t have folic acid. Whole grain crackers don’t have folic acid.

So there’s a few things that we found, that, that worse, we’re trying to convert to using more.

Now here’s this, the stuff that we found in our pantry that we, we love, but as far as the flavor goes. But we don’t love the fact that folic acid is added to these products. That is a problem, especially if you’re trying to get natural folate into your body. And folic acid is a, not necessarily good for neurodivergent children. Just saying. So pay attention to the labels, what you’re buying. Just because it’s name-brand, doesn’t mean it’s good for you.
